How to choose a green gel polish
Green is the colour that looks different on every nail. A pale mint reads as fresh and soft, a sage as calm and a bit vintage, an olive as earthy, an emerald as rich and a deep teal as the nearest thing to jewellery. It is a favourite for festive and bridal work as much as for everyday sets.
This page puts every green and teal we sell in one place, across gel polish and the other gels in the range. Each opens on its own product page with the shade selected. For other colours see blue, gold and nude, and for the whole range gel polish.
Pick the family first
Mint and pastel green lean blue and look cool and fresh. Sage and olive lean yellow and grey, and look earthy and muted. Emerald and forest are deep and saturated. Teal sits between green and blue and reads as a jewel tone. Each suits a different mood, so decide the mood before the shade.
Green and the skin
Muted, yellow-leaning greens such as olive and sage tend to suit warm and golden skin. Cooler, bluer greens such as mint and teal tend to suit cooler skin and look striking on deeper tones. As always, hold the photo beside your hand in daylight and choose the one that makes the skin look brighter.
Greens that cover well
Deep greens are forgiving, but pastels show every brush mark. Apply over a base coat, use thin coats, and cure each one before the next. The Viraa Pro Base Coat gives an even surface, and the base coat vs top coat guide explains why each layer matters. For a deep emerald or forest, thin coats also matter, because dark pigment can cure on the surface and stay soft beneath.
Ways to wear it
- Green and gold. A deep green with gold accents is a classic festive set; see gold.
- Matte olive. A matte top coat turns olive and forest suede-like. The matte top coat guide shows how.
- Teal cat eye. The cat eye gels include a teal among their shades. See cat eye gel polish.
- Mint and white. A pale mint with white accents is soft and clean; the pale shades are on the milky white page.
Sparkle and effects
The glitter gel polish range and the effect gels add shimmer to a green. Browse them for the shades that sit on top of a colour.
