Red Gel Polish Shades
Blood reds, classic reds and deep wines from every VIRAA range, with a photo of each shade.
Red is the colour clients ask for by name. It is also the one that shows every flaw: a streak, a flooded cuticle, a ragged edge. This page puts every red gel polish we sell in one place, from the classic blood reds to cherry and deep wine, so you can compare them side by side instead of opening each range in turn.
Every shade below is a soak-off gel that cures under UV or LED, and each one opens on its own product page with that shade already selected. Looking for a different colour? Nude and milky white have their own pages, and the whole range is in gel polish.

How to choose a red gel polish
Start with the undertone
Every red leans one way. A blue-based red is cool: it reads as crisp, classic and slightly formal, and it flatters most skin tones because it makes the nails look cleaner and the skin look warmer by contrast. An orange-based red is warm: it looks sunnier and more playful. A deep, dark red such as wine or blood red reads as rich and evening-ready on any skin tone, and it is the safest choice if you are unsure.
The quickest test is to hold the bottle, or the photo, beside the client's hand in daylight. Pick the one that makes the skin look brighter, not duller.
Pick for the finish you want
A red looks different in each finish. In gloss it is bold and wet-looking. Under a matte top coat it turns velvet and darker; the matte top coat guide shows how, and the Viraa Pro Russian Matte Top Coat and No Wipe Matte both do it. A chrome powder over a dark red gives a deep metallic. A red French tip is drawn with a fine liner from the nail art brushes.
Coverage and how many coats
The One Coat Gel Polish is formulated for full colour in a single coat, which saves time on a colour that shows streaks. Even so, two thin coats, each cured, give a smoother and more even red than one thick one. A thick coat of a strong pigment cures unevenly on the surface and wrinkles.
Protect the nail from staining
Strong pigments, red above all, can stain a bare nail. A base coat sits between the two and also holds the colour to the nail. Use one every time: the Viraa Pro Base Coat is made for it. The reasoning behind the base and the top coat is in base coat vs top coat.
Keep the edges clean
Red shows every mistake, so clean up before the lamp. Wipe any gel off the skin and the cuticle line with a brush dipped in cleanser, and cap the free edge so the colour does not chip there. If a set lifts, the cause is almost always preparation and not the red; why gel polish lifts goes through it.
Buying for a salon
Reds are the shades a salon runs through fastest. For bulk prices on whole ranges, see wholesale, and for a boxed start the Gel Essentials Kit includes a lamp and twelve One Coat colours. Top and base coats are in top and base coat.
